ZHAROOK Afghans were originally based in the Staffordshire Moorlands, UK. September 2008 saw our move to France. We are now situated in the rural, picturesque hamlet of Chatenet, St Vincent La Chatre, 79500 France (Deux Sevres)
 
Our first show dog arrived in the late 1960's and we have been actively showing since then.The “ZHAROOK” affix was first registered with The Kennel Club in 1972. We breed VERY occasionally We have bred only 10 litters since we started in the breed. However we have produced several Champions both at home and overseas and plan one of our rare  litters very soon.
Our breeding programme has been based on Carloway/Moonswift/ Amudarya and Sacheverell breeding. This type of Afghan will always be close to our hearts. When visiting The World Show in Copenhagen many years ago we fell for the elegance and ‘pizzazz’ of the Scandinavian Afghan  - hence the arrival of our own ‘Super Star’ in October 1999. These are the breeding lines with which we plan to continue.

Pat is an FCI / KC Championship show judge and has been honoured to judge many times at some of the most prestigious shows in the UK and overseas. In March 2007 she  judged Afghan females at “Crufts” Dog Show, Birmingham, UK
All our dogs are ‘house pets ‘ . Win or lose in the show-ring they are here to stay.
